After tackling grayscale painting, color is a daunting subject for many beginners. This video series takes a very traditional approach to teaching the subject: observation. I argue that the best way to understand color begins with training yourself to see clearly, and offer simple homework assignments to learn with. Though it’s common to jump headlong into subjects like ‘color theory’ and ‘color schemes’, this series argues for a much more fundamental starting point. Observed Color is appropriate for all skill levels, but works best with existing knowledge of grayscale rendering.
